Langkawi Island

A family trip to Langkawi Island. Visited this place once when I was a kid, so I had no recollection of any attractions there, which made this trip rather exciting. Upon arrival, we rented a vehicle for the whole trip since the attractions are located throughout the island. We stayed at the Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa, which is located in Kuah… southeast of the island.

We did a 4-hour island hopping from Pulau Beras Basah (“The Island of Wet Rice”) to Pulau Singa Besar (“The Island of Big Lion”) and finally to Pulau Dayang Bunting (“The Island of Pregnant Maiden”). We also visited the Langkawi SkyCab (a cable car ride to the top of Mount Mat Cincang) and Langkawi SkyBridge (a spectacular suspension bridge on that mountain).

The heavy rain during our stop at Pulau Dayang Bunting compounded by the high humidity on the island broke my camera. After two expensive repairs, it’s still a little wonky.

We spent some time enjoying the stupendous resort facilities throughout the whole trip. Most importantly, we spent quality time with family members.

A truly spectacular view at The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa.
4-hour island hopping from Pulau Beras Basah to Pulau Singa Besar to Pulau Dayang Bunting.
Cable car ride with the steepest gradient (42 degree) in the world to the top of Mount Mat Cincang.
Walked to the beach at 6AM to watch sunrise… ended up watching lightning show.
The 12-meter eagle sculpture at Eagle Square.
Family of fun.
