During our trip back from family visiting in the state of Johor, I followed my brother in law’s car to the state of Malacca, one of the most historical states in Malaysia. It has been at least ten years since I last visited the attractions in Malacca, and there are lots of different new things to see. Since we only had a day to cover the attractions, we visited only the important sites such as ‘A Famosa’ fortress, Stadthuys and a few famous places to dine. There were lots of foreign tourists in Malacca, mostly the Americans and Europeans… good time to escape the bone chilling winter.
Malacca is famous for its chicken rice dish. Here, the rice is served in the form of rice ball instead of a place of rice. We had chicken rice for lunch and ‘Sate Celup’ for dinner. As for the ‘Sate Celup’, the raw food is placed on the sticks. These sticks are dipped into the hot peanut gravy pot to cook them. Here, we got to select our desired food and each stick costs about a quarter… pretty cheap and tasty.
